“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)
Water only brings temporary relief
Have you ever been so thirsty that you could feel the dryness & uncomfortably begin to form in your mouth & throat? Your mouth feels as if it’s packed with a bag of cotton, your throat is dry and uncomfortable and all you can think about is a nice cool drink to soothe it. But it can’t just be any drink, sure you can drink a soda or a juice but because of all the sugar mixed in with it, these will only provide temporary relief. But when you drink plain water with nothing added to it, it brings a type of soothing that you can’t get from any other drink.
Jesus brings everlasting relief
Allowing Jesus to fill you instead of the world is the same way. Jesus is the cool refreshing water and the world (Satan) is the soda/ juices with added sugars. You can drink from the world & fill up on all it has to offer but it will only offer temporary relief. But when you drink from Christ he gives everlasting relief, he gives a type of relief that you couldn’t find anywhere else it is one of a kind. The sugary drinks in your life could represent success, acceptance, a nice bank account, popping business, etc. But the cool refreshing water represents identity, wholeness & freedom in all of our lives. So I encourage you that as this week starts, realign yourself with the source and get rid of all of the counterfeits.
Tips For Connecting To God This Week!
